Toledo Opera, March 31-April 2nd, 2017
The third in Toledo Opera's ongoing series of works by American composers, Vanessa won the Pulitzer Prize for composition in 1958 after the unqualified success of its premiere at the Metropolitan Opera. This semi-staged production of Samuel Barber's heart-breaking family drama will be performed with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. Sara Jobin will conduct a cast featuring soprano Jennifer Rowley, mezzo-soprano Irina Mishura, and tenor Sean Panikkar.
